Does anyone have info on how long one can live WITHOUT chemo? With Gleevec my mom's tumor grew a lot within 2 months. Is it safe to assume that it will continue to grow every day and within WEEKS she will succumb??

Thanks.

Hi Revi Your doc would be best at guessing how fast this tumor grows.I have heard it doubles in size every so many weeks,i forget the exact amount. It`s all just a guess. My guess is prob. 3-6 months.which may be generous. You could try calling Jean Wallace she specializes in brain tumors from a more natural perspective,at least you would still feel you are doing something. It`s a tough dec.to stop treatment or not.Your lucky your mom is involved in dec.my mom did not participate in any dec.i don`t know if she didn`t want to or couldn`t,i guess i will never know.Take care  Susan

There is a new product out there that has been designed specifically for GBM it is called poly-mva, I am in the process of trying to get it for my husband who has gbm, he has not been on chemo or radiation since the end of july 06 and is holding his own and doing and functioning well. We have been on the cellect program. Both of the products have been researched and recommended by our family doctor, not the cancer docs of course all they know is chemo. Good Luck to you and to all of us.
