Stage IV Lung Cancer, Medicare Supplement - Under 65 ?

Anyone out there been thru this (or is going thru this now )?  My wife has Lung Cancer Stage IV.  She is 58 yrs. old.  She will be on Medicare 2/1/07.  We're trying, desperately, to find a Medicare Supplement - Plan F for her.  Talk about going crazy !!!    We live in Florida - so you'd think there'd be companies out there who offer Supplemental plans to people under 65.  I know - no one really want's to insure her ...... but if we can't get a supplemtnetal plan - I figure it'll take only 6 months before we're bankrupt and homeless.  This is really crazy !   Anyone got any "good" experienced unofficial advice ??   We've been fighting this damn disease for 2ys and 9 mons. now - - - and it's been hard, but I swear trying to deal with insurance copanies and the government is even harder !!!

I too had stage IV-have been in remission for 3 yrs-went on medicare this year-i am not eligible for medicaid for the secondary but the center that i go to for treatment {Moffitt in tampa} approved me for their needy program that helps with the 20%. please let me know if there is anything i can help you with.

My Mother 55 years old  was just diagnosed with stage Iv lung caner it was found due to a Mat. brain tumor- that has been completely re-sected- We do not yet know exactly what we are up agesnt but if you have nay tips- for healing please send them my way- she has never let me down and I dont intend ever fail her- 

 

they want to do 3 weeks of radiation on the brain site-

and have tests lined up to learn more about the lung cancer as it did not show up on x-rays and presented only "small nodes" on MRI 

 

I would like diet ideas- and mind set strategy the doctor gave us hope= feeling even with the spread it may still be early..

I saw your message even though it is from last year and thought this information might be helpful for those of you in Florida looking for help with your medical bills while going through cancer treatments. I know several people mentioned needing a supplement and can't find one here in Florida. There are Medicare Advantage plans that under 65 Medicare recipients can join. My mother has leukemia and cancer of another kind and she joined a Medicare Advantage plan which saved her financially.

can you recommend a medicare advantage plan for someone who discovered they have cancer?  i am very concerned about bills down the road.  i will turn 65 in july.  thanks
