At 47 and a 4 year old son I'm faced with a cancer. Bone scans tomorrow, no pain now just got diagonosed last night. Head is spinning seems like progress is being made in the field. Dana Farber for a second opinion, hopefully next week after more results come in. Are there any young early stage myeloma people out there that can offer any advice?

Do you know your B2M (beta 2 microglobulin) and serum albumin?  These help determine a stage.  Generally survival is measured in years so hang in there.

this sounds like stage 1 which has the longest survival.  Your age is another favorable factor as you may be eligable for a bone marrow transplant.  Hang in there.

Hi Kappa

Give your life to God,pray alot it helps me.Looks like you are in the very early stages. I have read in multiple myeloma package, there is a man who was diagnosed 16 years ago and he is still around.I also read that green tea kills myeloma cells, don't know if that is true but I drink 2-3 cups a day now. I was diagnosed with smoldering myeloma just 2 days before New Years .My albumin is 3.3 hope that is not to bad don;t know my beta...?

Hang in there and you have to be positive and don't think about that

Take care

Petra

Kappa, you have been given some very good advice, they thought I had MM 2 years ago, because the symptoms are so much alike, I had Waldenstroms Macroglobulinemia, whew.........the only way they could tell the difference was through a bone marrow aspiration, I am not familiar with the stages, sorry, but from what others have said, it sounds positive, that you are in the 1st stage! Thats good news.  I have been very fortunate, as I have had an excellant support group, it is a prayer board, with a lot of cancer survivors on it, and they have helped me through 2 very rough years!  It is www.allin1accord.com,

I know right now, you are in shock, I know I was when they first told me, but with the Lord on my side, I have done really great! Plus having others to support me through prayer, and just talking to me, that helps me so much, I will be praying for you, you are young, and I know you can beat this! Hang tuff gal, 3 things my Onc. told me, keep a positive attitude, a smile on your face and your faith in God, It really works! God bless you, as you start this road to recovery, I will be praying for you, Pat
