My husband of 18 years, was diagosed in June, 06 with EC cancer w/ mets to lung and lymph nodes.  He has taken several rounds of chemo including cis/fu5 and had radiation.  The docs were amazed at the wonderful results, but it did not kill it all.  Killed only the lung cancer completely.  He has been eating well, feeling good, and sleeps alot.  We feel lucky at this point in time.  Awaitring follow up x rays in February.  He has starting having hiccups agan and I see him having some difficulty swallowing again.  Anyone know about the treatments given in the Bahamas.  I think it is called AIT.  I am investgating just in case it has started to grow back again so soon.  Any info would be wonderful.  My good thoughts are with all of you and your families.

I don't have any info on what you are asking. I am sorry. I was wondering if you could help me. My mother is 75 years old and cannot have surgery due to lung condition. Her cancer is stage T3N1MO. She is to start treatment Jan 29th. Her treatment sounds the same. Cisplatinum and 5 FU continuous. Radiation starts the same time for 5 1/2 weeks. The chemo I know will last longer. Could you tell me how your husband did with his chemo and radiation? My mother had a port put in and goes Thursday for the feeding tube. Did your husbands throat get really sore? Just any info on how he did with the treatments would be greatly appreciated. My mother  is only 108 lbs and this treatment scares me. Thank you or anybody that can help.

Also if anybody knows any other treatments we should consider before she starts this please let me know?

I am still praying and pulling for all of us.      Pat

The treatment you are referring to is called IAT, Immuno Augmentive Therapy. I went to Freeport to their clinic with my mother for her treatment there in 1980. It was successful, though she did not have an advanced case.  There is a website called www.cancure.org which lists alternative treatments and clinics around the world. They mention IAT there and have the contact info listed. Best wishes to your husband. My husband is being treated at Cancer Treatment Centers of America and we are optimistic. They do good work and have a holistic approach, with naturopaths on staff as well as excellent oncologists.

I know they treat certain types of lung cancer better than other.  Large cell, non small cell responds to their treatment as well as some others.  I know they do not accept small cell, but you best bet is to contact them directly at www.immunemedicine.com .  Very friendly, honest and dedicated staff.  Ihad inquired about the clinic years ago after I was given alot of mis-information about the scientists and their procedures from Oncologists at Slaon Kettering.  Below is a message that another patient had asked concerning the validity of the treatment, it may be helpful.  Good Luck!!!

A) I asked those same questions over ten years ago when I took my uncle there for treatment for his advanced liver cancer. Sloan Kettering gave him 2 months to live, he went to IAT clinic instead for the treatment and lived 18 months with a good quality of life for 16 of the 18 months (with no side effects, the treatment is non-toxic). Cost is about 12 -15 thousand dollars a year including treatment, travelling expenses and renting a condo, etc. (depends on what you rent and how you spend your time down there). It was developed by scientists from St. Vincents in NYC. It is based on over twenty five years of research that started at Cal-Tech and St. Vincent's Hospital in NYC. They have treated about 8,000 patients and recently the US Govt and the RAND Corporation (objective research firm) investigated the treatment and the conclusions were favourable.I wrote a book about the history of the treatment and our experience investigating all the information and mis-information on the treatment. More info at www.cancercontrolinfo.com or the clinic directly at www.immunemedicine.com. Good luck and we were very glad we went.
