My almost 10year old basset hound has just been diagnosed with bladder cancer.  I'm a vet. tech. and is looking for any info about this disease.  I'm very disstraught over the diagnosis.  She's my life and I'm very upset about this.  We've been battling vaginitis/uti problems for all of 2006, and just found out about the cancer on 1-19-07.  I'm going to meet with specialists, but from what I've read prognosis isn't good.  I'm reading about low-carb diets and medications and would appreciate any info. from all of you people who are going through the same thing.

Hi there.  I've never done anything like this, but I'm desperate and in distress.  My 7 year old Lab, Roxie, is showing signs of bladder infection (I've had a few, so I recognized immediately her need to constantly go outside, etc.)  Today I found blood all over the floor and I've been right by her side, letting her out about every 2 minutes or so.  Called our Vet, but they can't see her till tonight.......Roxie has battled thryoid problems since she's been 2 and is on medication for that, but still overweight, which puts her in the high risk category for bladder cancer.  I was wondering if you might share with me the symptoms you noticed before diagnosis.  I don't think our family can bear to lose our puppy.  Thank you.

My dog also just been diagnosed with a bladder tumor but not yet known if it is cancer, however, statistics says that more than 50% tumors are cancerous.  There is evidence of a low to no carb diet which I have placed her on.  The vet placed her on piroxicam and this may shrink the tumor.   I have been giving her Graviola, an herb, that is said to attack the tumor without harming other organs.  In the last day or so, she appears less uncomfortable and sleeping better.  We will find out if the tumor is cancerous or not on Tuesday.  There is also a message tread dating back to 2005.  It has 350 replies to it which has been a real helpful advice in trying to keep our pets comfortable as long as they have.  Hope this helps.  Stay strong.

You might try to mix it with some ground beef or I heard sardines.
