Repeat Of Pet Scan

My mom Betty is 78 years young and she has stage two stomach cancer she had surgery and it went well. two thirds of her stomach was removed. She is eating pretty well. Then the hard part came she had to have chemotherapy and it damn near killed her it made her lose all her hair she had sores all in her mouth and her throat and esopogus she lost 17 pounds because she got dehydrated. She went to the hospital with a blood pressure of 60 over 30 and almost died. She has since recoved from the chemo after being in the hospital 29 days and a nursing home for  2 months she is now home after a miracolous recovery and determination on her part. here is the dilema she is afraid to repeat chemo and is scheduled for a pet scan here feb. 1st to see if she is still clear of the cancer. Her cancer did not get into the lympnodes thank God. She is very afraid of the cancer coming back. Does anyone have any suggestions what she should do also how hard is the radiation on someone her age. She is in good health, but still a little weak from the chemo. she had chemo for a week of 5fcu once a day. her surgery was in agust 2006  her chemo was for one week in oct and that is all she did because of  what the chemo did to her. Floyd, Wait for the PET results.  It if comes out clean.  Then maybe treatment wont be needed.  In my reaserch I read that just elven years ago surgery was the only form of treatmet.  

Before I started treatment I spoke with a 73 year old lady who has been clean 10 years with out treatment.

I would do what makes your mother most comftorable and happy. Life is to short go out and enjoy!
