Hi All,
I just wanted to post a quick update. I had my TT on 1/16 so I am now one week past the surgery and doing fine. I am very tired after a few hours of being awake and take a serious 2 hour nap each afternoon but this was expected. This happens from the drop in hormome levels between 5 to 7 days after the surgery and can catch some people off guard but I had been forewarned.
Pathology details, I had a papillary carcinoma in my left lobe and also in 2 of 5 lymph nodes that were removed. And the right lobe had a multinodular goiter (not huge but worth removing just to be done with it).
The next step is to see my endo and get ready for RAI in about 4 weeks.
More later....

Melody,
I also went through this last year (10/19/2005). The low sodium diet beofre RAI, and being completely off hormones was quite difficult (2 weeks before RAI). You'll feel tired and sluggish, your skin and hair my get a little dry, but you'll get through it.
I think the most difficult thing for me is that my energy levels never quite felt the same after the thyroidectomy (even with the hormones), but they are still being adjusted every 3 months based upon my blood test results
Think Positive!!!! All the little side effects don't matter.... what matters is that you are alive.
