I have had the Whipple operation Jan 5th I am at home and do suffer from nausea  after meals. The problem I am having is  everything I eat taste bad. This is to the point I do not want to eat. Has anyone else suffered from this and how long did it last

my mother after the whipples tried to eat small meals everyday, for weeks after her operations everything she ate tasted like salt! she would just try to eat as much as she could to get her weight up to a better standard, alot of the time she ate fruit, and for meals it was mashed potato's with gravy, some meat with a cream sauce or something that wouldnt cause her trapped wind due to her bowel complications! she was given a some information about what she should be eating from her professor!

best probablly to go to your doctor for a better idea!

I have done much research on line and have found some great resources. In about 25% of the cases after Whipple surgerys there are issues with the stomach not working correctly. On the USC website it states that you should eat small meals and snack between meals. www.surgery.usc.edu/divisions/tumor/pancreasdiseases/web%20pages/pancreas%20resection/whipple%20operation.html This is the link to their site. It also mentions that in most cases this goes away after about 4 to 6 weeks. I would also contact your doctor to see if he has any other suggestions. I hope this helps.
