I've been on Lupron, Zometa, Casodex and Thalomide since March of this year for my stage 4 prostate cancer. Although recent bone scans show no new areas of growth other than the initial areas of ribs, pelvic bone and shoulder blade, I started getting numbness in both feet 3 weeks ago. It has now spread to my fingers and has gotten much worse in my feet. My oncologist says it's the price to pay for keeping the cancer in control with the Tholidamide. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Hi Robert,
I have colon cancer, and I have experienced exactly the same problems. I have had numbness and tingling in my hands and feet. My feet fall asleep quite often from sitting too long etc. The term used for this is neuropathy. I have had this problem with two different kinds of chemo drugs. I would suggest moving about as much as possible, and avoid sitting for any extended period of time. It is quite annoying, but I guess it is the price to pay for having chemotherapy. I like to soak my feet in a foot spa. The warm water feels good, and it helps the circulation. I would make sure it's ok with your doctor to use one. I always wear slippers while I'm in the house, and I keep my feet as warm as possible. I hope your doctor can give you some better advice. If it gets worse, I would ask the doctor for more information. The medication I am currently on is notorious for causing sensory problems. I want to wish you good luck with your treatments. Happy Holidays.

My husband takes thalidomide for his amyloidosis and multiple myeloma. He also took dexamethazone. He had numbing before we started associated with the cancer. The thalidomide progressed it further. It is a known side effect but you do not recognize that it is from the meds. Also neuropathy comes from diabetes that comes on its own and from the use of high dose steroids. So, my husband got it from all sides.

I have the numbness in hands and feet from chemo. B6 gives some relief.

I think it's the cancer thing because I had 2 times radiation - 30 days & 35 days. I have very numb toes and they also go from red to purple. If I touch them they go white. I have hard lumps on all joints and veins are every place. All started after the radiation. Anybody have this?P.S. How long is radiation in the body?
Thanks, Vonnie
