My 85-year-old mom had a urostomy 23 years ago & now my dad of 87 yrs was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He is going into his 4th week of daily radiotherapy & weekly chemo. It is very hard for me to get any info because my parents are of "that generation" whose members do not like to ask the doctors any questions - they just do what they're told. Plus I'm in NY & they're in Las Vegas. All I know is the tumor is in the wall of the bladder. They won't operate due to his age. My dad had never had a major illness before of any kind, so this really was hard to accept. I had been the sick one, with first Hodgkin's, then Breast Cancer; then my mom. I know it's hard to say, with the little info I've given, but might this be a slow-growing cancer in a man his age? The good thing is he's pretty peppy, more so than normal; my mom is the one who's exhausted. I am waiting to see how things go before I go out there; right now they're handling it very well, & the doctor was right - my dad is still driving.
