Hello. I am new here. In early 2006 I had an MRI for headaches. I also had hearches all the time for 3 months (but light pain in ear). They found something in my Nasopharynx area. My first biopsy was sent to John Hopkins. 2 Pathologists said it was cancer but another said not sure. A big group at J.Hopkins studied it and said it wasn't. I went to another Cancer Hospital they ordered a Pet scan= positive, but said it might be from biopsy not healing yet. Another biopsy said not sure but closer to being not cancer.( not 100% that it is or that is isn't) They said it is on my tongue also where the tonsillars are. I had my tonsills out at 15. I am now over 40. Second pet scan better but still not normal (lower than 1st scan) Watching me close to 9 months now. They decided to take it all out to be positive it is or it's not. Decision last week. Doc said it's really painfull to remove tonsillars also taking nasopharynx lesion out and adenoids because all of these can become cancerous later if left in. There Not 100% sure that that will happen but need to be on safe side. History of oral cancer x1 Aunt.(Larynx) History of other cancer in family very high. Scared to have this surgery cause the Doctor said it is very very painfull. Can't eat for 2-3 weeks she said. After 2 weeks will start to improve. They will wait to hear what the Patholygist says. Any one have a similar situation?? Should I go thru with the surgery??? Thanks Hope all on message board a speedy recovery. Blessing to all !!!!
