Is anyone familiar with gastroparesis after gastrectomy? My father had his gastrectomy on January 11th and is still unable to eat anything. He drinks a little Ensure and ends up projectile vomiting. He continues to have horrible hiccups where he loses his breath.
He went to the doctor today and they have ordered an upper GI series. Is this normal and if so how long can he continue like this before we should get really concerned? His physician didn't seem too concerned and said he can hear bowel sounds. My father has lost 29 pounds since December.
