Subject: Different type of treatment

Has anybody heard about a treatment where the gastric cancer has spread from the stomach to the peritoneum. The one I am wondering about is where they do the surgery remove the tumor and and tumors they can outside the stomach and then perform what they call Hyperthermic intraoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy. This is where they flush the peritoneal cavity with a heated chemo for 90 minutes right after the surgery. If you have any information let me know. Thanks

Hi Patricia,

How is your husband doing?

I had researched this procedure for my father and can share the little that I know about it.  The IPHC chemo is done at a few institutions in the US.  I know that Wake Forest and Roswell Cancer Center are two places that perform this procedure.  It is used very commonly in Japan (where stomach cancer is very common) and in Europe.  It is a very involved procedure and effectivenss seems to depend on the extent of the disease. When I was doing research, I spoke with several doctors who told me that recent data shows that the sideeffects from this procedure are very harsh.  Also, one thing that concerned me is that the doctor who pioneered this procedure in the US (Dr. Sugarbaker) stopped performing IPHC for stomach cancer because it was not effective.  One thing that frustrates me greatly is that when it comes to cancer, no two doctors will give you the same opinion.

The Wake Forest website has a lot of information on it http://www1.wfubmc.edu/gs/patient/iphc.   I hope that this help a little. Please let me know if you have any other questions (tokarliatearthlinkdotnet).  Best wishes to you and your husband.

Here's a different kind of treatment that works:

I would strongly encourage you to visit www.CancerTutor.com for

alternative cancer treatments that can work no matter what stage if your

father doesn't improve. Please don't give up!

Also a wonderful diet that can be used in conjunction with his cancer

treatment can be found in the book, "Beating Cancer with Nutrition", by

Patrick Quillan  is available at Amazon.com. Check out alternative

treatments on CancerTutor.com like the Budwig Protocol using FlaxSeed

Oil and Cottage Cheese combo (which is working for me), and the Gerson

Therapy which  consists of 13 glasses a day of juices, carrot/apple and

green drinks.  Also start right away on Vitamin C powder mixed into green

drinks up to bowel tolerance, i.e. 20 or more grams a day.

Find a doctor, if possible, that can help with alternative methods either in

conjunction with conventional doctors or without.  For example, a good

test when calling an alternative medicine doctor, "will he give

intravenous Vitamin C?"  Check out Linus Paulings books on

Vitamin C and Cancer.   I hope this helps...

Good luck!
