A lot depends on your age. I was 53 when I had a tandem TP at City of Hope. A 'mini' TP in 8/03 and a major TP in Dec./03. For me, it was no big deal, not much quezziness or anything. The TP kept the Myeloma away for 3 years. It has just started to come back. Actually, it doesn't really go completely away, you just keep it at bay.
The TP may give you a few years without problems. My TP was 'auto'. I am now about to start on Revlimid/Dex. During and after the TP, be sure to walk. I can not stress that enough. You can't lay around all day in bed, go walking a few times a day. Gets your blood counts back up quicker. Good luck.

I was diagnosed with MM in 2002. Since then I have been getting the standard treatments. My Dr now says I need to get the transplant, I have read some about it, but like to hear from anyone out there that has been through it. Whats the recovery like? how long? has it made a difference?
Thanks very much
