I am a 58 year old male who grew up playing golf in the deep south all day, every day, all summer.
I had a 2 times per day x 21 day Efudex regime, which ended 4 days ago. My forehead responded very quickly, and reddened, scabbed and peeled before the second week was over. Third week was bad...temples, ears and neck.
To my surprise and disappointment, I have continued to feel worse into the 4th week. I was proscribed Triamcinolone Acetonide, a steroid to help relieve the discomfort. I didn't need to start it until the end of week 3, and have been using it 3X per day for the last 10 days.
Right now I am stuck between redness, healing, dry skin, cracked skin, scabs, weeping raw new skin, etc. and trying to find relief....moisturizer, antibotic with petroleum jelly, aloe, etc.
My Dr. is off today, but her associate said to stop using the Triamcinolone and switch to hydrocortisone.....milder, and not irritating in and of itself. I saw the comment about Vanicream, and I hope to find some tonight.
