My wife is fighting this cancer and I'm her husband, she is so strong. Now we have 2 small kids and my wife wants to speak with someone who understands what she is going through. Please send me a message if you are close in age and have a similar situation. My name is Eric.

Thanks,

P.S. Don't be hesitant, there is strength in numbers.

I just completed 2 years of fighting late stage 3 rectal cancer. All I can say from a negative to a positive in my life. I consider it a pause in life! A time to reflect and a time to reset priorities. My journey was incredible. I experienced 6 surgeries, 70+ chemo treatments and 40 radiation treatments. Now I am fighting to stay in remission. My faith, family and friends helped me so much during this time of life. It is a battle, but the treatments do work, and if you maintain good nutrition, get rest, try to exercise during the process and read or listen to as many uplifting books as possible that is the ticket. I just look at Lance Armstrong's fight with cancer and his was a miracle. So turn it over to God and ride out the storm. I met some of the most incredible, upbeat cancer patients who kept me positive! Surround yourself with ALL positive situations and dump all the negative things around you! You can really set an example for your kids! This is a true test in life! Yes, you will be tired, sick and I am sure down at times, but push forward and keep busy if possible.

You can achieve great things and then share your journey with others. My advice keep a journal and get those negative thoughts out of your head on to paper then reflect. It seems that it was so long ago that I battled this sickness. So document your journey, it just might be a best seller!

Blessings and keep on keeping ON!... :O)

Dear Eric,
My name is Nancy and I have a sister Named Gail who has colon cancer. Your wife's story and my sisters are identical. Gail, now 36, was diagnosed last year at the age
of 35 with stage 4 colon cancer. She too has 2 small children ages 1 and 3. I will
pass on your email address to her and I'm sure she will be of comfort. Gail is weathering her storm through her faith, hope, and through the tremendous outpour of support from those that love her. I sent her Lance Armstrong's book and remind her that she has the strength and will to beat this. Will be in touch soon. Please respond if you'd like for support. Have faith and your wife is in my prayers.

Hi,
It would be great if she would send me a message and maybe my wife and her could talk. My wife is doing well right now and fighting daily.
I really appreciate you reaching out.

Thanks, Eric

Nancy, how is Gail doing? Hopefully well and positive. I try to help Karmen but sometimes what she needs is someone to relate to and so I am looking for her to speak with someone. It sounds as if Gail is in the predicament as Karmen unfortunately. I am trying to prevent my wife from having to go through the daily roller coaster type effect so I am doing everything for her including research dealing with the doctors and maintaining her positive outlook. She is doing really well but like everything else there are good days and bad days. Hope your good days out number your bad and God Bless.
Eric

Hi Eric,
I just read your post about your wife, and I just wanted you to know that I wish you and your family all the best. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in Nov.of 2000 at age 40. I am currently being treated for metastatic cancer. If you or your wife would like to e-mail me I'd love to chat with you and offer any advice I can give. Take Care

Hi Eric,
I was wondering what treatment your wife is on. Is she on Oxaliplatin? I just started on that treatment on Oct 2nd. I go in every other week, and I have to wear an infusion pump which is not so great, but this is my third time on chemo, and I guess I have to do what I can. You mentioned that your wife has fluid. Where is the fluid? Does she have abdominal mets? I am just wondering what you mean by she has to have it drained. I hope that things go well for her. How old are your two children? I have 2 grown sons and I also have a brand new grandson. He is 8 weeks old today. Well take care and let us know how things are going. Have a good weekend.

Julie C.

Good Morning Julie,
Yes my wife takes oxaliplatin and yes she has abdominal fluid her cancer has metastasized to the peritoneal wall and they say it can not be removed cause if they tried then she would bleed to death. The sponge effect. If the sponge is 1/2 in the water and 1/3 out when you cut the dry side then the water will run out that side. We have two children 3 and 5 both boys. My wife has the pump 5fu as well with the port in the arm. Julie we live in New Jersey and my wife is not computer savvy but she is actually looking to speak to someone on the phone. Would it be possible for her to call you or you to vcall us and that way the two of you could relate together. If not that is fine but she would prefer to talk.
