Hi I am beside myself my dog was diagnosed with a tumour yesterday and the vet said it is a tumour the size of the end of the finger it is in the canal that is at the start of the bladder the vet suggests we remove it and start on metacam.  We have been treating her for a bladder infection for a few weeks because she was weeing all the time everywhere and then the vet said to give her a scan and this tumour turned up.  He said it is nearly always cancer.  He said that to remove it and then give her metacam will be the best treatment for her.  She is 13 year old terrier with lovely corgi ears named pippa.  I just dont know what to do she is so well otherwise running around and eating her food.

Does anybody please have any information that could her us.  I am desperate.

Nicky

Hi  mate

I know how your feeling my scottish terrier has cushings which is a tumor in the bladder he is only 11 years of age and you wouldnt know it he is like a pup.  we went to the vets yesterday for a scan which the vet said was the right way forward  so we took her advice and booked him in for this scan , when we went to pick him up then we got the bad news they told us there is nothing they can do for my best friend. apart from keeping him comfortable he has a tumor on the bladder and suspicious cells else where

Hi sorry to hear about your little doggy are you sure there is nothing they can try.  We had a scan and the vet has removed the tumour on thursday they have sent it off for analysis.  He is quite confident they have removed it all and have put her on some medication to stunt the growth back accross the bladder.  The tumour was on the neck of the bladder so he could easily remove it and he says there do not appear to be any more in the bladder,  Hopefully this will give her a bit more time with us.  She seems so well and you would not think there was anything wrong with her so we will have to go with this and give it a try.  She is 13 and an old girl but if it gives her some extra time with us then it is worth it.  You will try anything wont you just to help her.  It is such a blow when you find out but I did ask lots of questions.  Apparently they do grow back but if you have this medication the vet says she will have a chance that it may grow back more slowly and keep her well for a bit.  It is early days and we have not had the results from the tumour removal.  So we will just have to wait and see.  Meanwhile she is being spoilt wrotten and has had cheese on toast for breakfast which she ate.  See what you can look up about the disease on the webside.
