My father after a year and a half of the Dr.s telling him he had reflux disease, was diagnosed with stomach cancer. It has spread to the liver. He starts chemo tomorrow, and I am frightened of the side effects. His chances are about 30% they say. I am so devistated, he has never been sick a day in his life. He has always been healthy. I love him so much and do not want him to suffer. Any words would help me. Sincerely, a very sad daughter.

I have just finished with my first round of chemo for stomach cancer. It was not too bad. I had a few days where I felt sick. The worst part for me was the sores in the mouth, and my husband went to the drug store and bought Gly-oxide and it helped.  I am facing 3 more rounds and 5 weeks of radiation.  I hear that the radiation for the stomach has  pretty bad side effects, so I am not looking forward to that.  Good luck to your father.  I think one of the most important things is to have confidence in your doctor.  Find one that you really have faith in.

My dad just finished one round of chemo, his Dr. told him in three weeks they will do another round, and if the tumors aren't shrinking.....he has about three months. If chemo works he has about 16 to 24 months. Either way, I am losing my dad, and I am so angry that his Dr. ignored his cry for stomach pain.....and said it's just acid reflux. My dad has always been healthy...not even a cold....now he get's sick for the first time....and it is his worst nightmare..Cancer. I love my dad so much....please god don't let him suffer.

Hi,

Check out the book on Amazon.com called "Beating Cancer with

Nutrition" byPatrick Quillan.  This book has a wonderful diet plan

to use in conjunction with or without chemotherapy that

will help him to handle the treatment and heal faster.  Hope this

helps.

 Good luck.

Hi very sad daughter

my dad was diagnosed with stomach cancer in January too.  He is 66 years old.  How old is your dad?  I am so sorry for you and your dad.  I know how you are feeling.  My dad was never sick either and just felt a little discomfort after eating, he had a scope done and was diagnosed with an ulcer and they returned the following week saying it was cancer!  Your dads GP was very wrong not to have sent him for a scope immediately.  My dad is recovering from a full gastrectomy and has to have 6 months of chemo and radiation.  He has lost alot of weight and there was lots of neglegence on the hospitals behalf also.  I love my dad so much too as I am the only daughter and we have been very close all our lives I will pray for him and if I can help in anyway I am here even to talk too.

Niamh
