Carax And Still Ugly After 2 Months!

Well, it's been over 2 months since my final treatment of Carac and all I can say is the lack of knowledge on my doctors part is criminal.

Both my neck and upper chest are covered in brownish-reddish blotches.  I look like I was a burn victim.

So much for modern miracle cures.  Doc says that my reaction is "unusual" - lucky me.

Good to hear most eveyone else is happy with the treatment.  Me, I'll never take the advice of a so called medical doctor again.  There's a reason why they call it "practicing medicine".

I finished my last Carac treatment 5 weeks ago and still have people asking if I fell asleep out in the sun with my glasses on.  My treatment was only on my face but I keep thinking it will fade......

Have you gotton any suggestions on how to help fade your skin back to a normal color? 

I still have skin damage and it has been over four months since I discontinues treatment. The dermatologist who prescibed this mediacation was at fault to say the least. I had one smalll spot on my nose which the biopsy results identified as solar keratosis. He put me on a 3-week treatment with Carac. I had many extreme symptoms which he refused to address and after the second week I called the pharmacist and she told me to set up an appointment with another physician. I went to my general practioner, who had me stop the treatment imeediately. I used a prescription antibiotic ointment for healing. After 6 weeks I returned to see him because, on my cheeks etc. where a had the deepest lesions, I was left with broken blood vessels and red and or brown spots which were not visible before treatment. He said I may have permanent damage and and out- of -pocket expense for lazer treatments to remove the scars. He recoomended a dermalologist.The dermatologist told me the treatment was too aggressive and  the spots were a result of the healing and could probably darken when I go out in the sun and would most likely be permanent.

Believe it or not the dermatologist who prescibed this medication told me my complexion would be better after the treatment and made it sound like a bonus of the process. After reading other postings, I have come to the conclusin that this treatment is very serious and many prescibing it aare not behaving in an ethical manner. My family physician said he only uses this medication for someone with serious issues. The 2nd dermatologist said it shuld never have been used in my situation.

Anyway I am left with a mess i(brokenblood vessels and  red and brown spots) instead of the origingal tiny spot the size of a period on my nose which was removed with the dry-ice type treatment.

This site wasa godsend in helping determine it was time to question the treatment. If I did not haave everyone's histories to compare with mine, I may have finished out the last week orf the treatment. A light bulb went on in my head about what the doctor was telling me versus what actual patient were saying. Thank you all.

Hi!  I just picked up my Carac yesterday.  I have major knee replacement surgery on May 6.  My dermatologist told me to start this 2 weeks after my surgery.  Don't you think that will put an awful lot of extra pain and stress on my when I'm already going to be pretty bad?  Mine is going to the end of my nose, about 1 to 1 & 1/2  in up the top of nose and slightly about the sides.  I had it tiny white specks taken off several years ago and the doctor froze it to deep.  The skin was left too thin.  As I've aged, my skin has gotten thinner and cracks and bleeds from sun, wind and satin pillowcases.  The doctor doesn't think this is cancer, so why should this intense chemo medicine be necessary?  Isn't there an easier way to determin this?
