surgeon suggests near total maxillectomy without primary reconstruction but using obturator and post-op radiation therapy. father says he is not ready for such a horrible thing and better not to interfere with it.
guide us
Unfortunately I nor anyone else for this matter can guide you, I can only support and encourage you. The first thing to remember is that it is his life, his cancer, his battle; and while a diagnosis like this effects everyone involved, it is his choice.
He has to choose to fight, you can not do this for him. All you can do is share your opinion with him, and tell him that no matter what he desides you love him regardless.
another way to look at this is the quality of life he will have post the surgery and treatment and the quantity of life he will have.
I wish I had an easy answer for you but I don't, and that is because there isn't one. All that you can do is gain as much knowledge as possible, look for alternative treatments and surgical approaches including experimental options.
Just breathe and love him even if you disagree with the choice he is making .
You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
