My 3 yr.old female Brussels Griffon named Sprout ended up with a urinary blockage three weeks ago. A First. To make a long story short, she had bladder surgery to get a catheter through her from the inside, which was still difficult because it was like she was swollen closed. The vet found struvite stones, but felt this was incidental. Her bladder was very inflamed and the culture proved a staph infection. I brought her to a specialist per my vets suggestion because he was puzzled with how difficult it was to get a catheter through the urethra and thought growth/TCC. A preliminary ultra sound by the referral vet showed a thickened bladder wall. They felt the infection was so bad it closed her up. They never biopsyed and felt she didn't fit the criteria for TCC. She came home without catheter and is peeing. She has been treated with Clavamox for 3 weeks. This weeks urine culture is negative. Problem is, now small clots are coming out after every urination and she squats for a very long time. She's eating and playing and happy, but the bloody clots have me concerned. I am awaiting my vets call after he confers with the Vet Referral. Any Suggestions??
