I had a biopsy of a "freckle" on my eyebrow-derm called me 2 weeks later and said it was malignant melanoma and to see a plastic surgeon asap. His words were "this is very serious". He recommended plastic surgeon to remove it and more skin surrounding it. Derm sent me for chest xray and blood work-all came back fine. Went to plastic surgeon he called it "intermediate stage" but said it was thin. Not sure what any of that really means. I did not like the surgeon-he seemed rushed and offered very little information, just that I needed surgery to remove this. He did not feel any enlarged lymph nodes on the side where freckle was, just one on other side. He said that one doesn't matter because it is on the other side. He said no need to test any lymph nodes. I am not comfortable with that -why not just check? Wouldn't it be better to know? His waiting room was FULL of middle aged women in some stage of cosmetic enhancements. He definately did not seem to deal with medical issues, but rather cosmetic ones. He even asked if I was interested in a brow lift later down the road? I am going to go for a second opinion I think - I don't want to be dramatic, but I just don't feel right with this guy. Basically, what do you think about the lymph nodes? Test them or not?
