My Mom was dx. in late feb. with Sage 4 diffuse large b-cell NHL. Her Dr. tells us she is quite a rarity, in the way that she has very little node ivolvement, but lots of organ involvement. Both kidney's, adrenal glands, both breasts, intestines, stomach and bone marrow. She started her Chop-R treatments, and has two treatments to go. After her first 2 treatments, she had a PET scan, and it showed improvement and her Dr.'s were quite hopeful. Well, last weekend Mom, discovered two new lumps in her stomach, then on Monday her vision started going funny. By wed. she was seeing four of everything. Thurs. went in to see her Dr. he ordered a scan of her brain. Fri. had the scan done, her oncology surgeon, who happens to be one of her best friends gave a preliminary read of the scan and callled my Mom crying telling her that there is a mass on her brain. Mom won't know for sure what it is until Tues, holiday weekend, when the radiologist reads it.
Mom, is pretty confident that this is the end of the road for her. In her mind, if her cancer is progressing while she is on chemo, then there is no way to stop it. She is considering stopping her treatments. If any one out there has any sort of a similar situation, will you please let me know. I understand my mom wanting quantity over quality, but I don't want her to give up hope either...
