We discussed with our doctors the possibility of taking
astragalus-based chinese herbs, in addition to standard treatment, for
advanced non small cell lung cancer. Our doctors encouraged it because
they were familiar with a meta-study published in the Journal of
Clinical Oncology :
http://jco.ascopubs.org/cgi/content/abstract/24/3/419
The
reason I am mentioning this is that our doctors also said that they
cannot initiate a discussion of using chinese herbs for NSCLC. They can
only discuss it with patients if patients bring up the subject
themselves. So, I mentioning it here so that people can hear about the
possibility of using chinese herbs, so that they can initiate a
discussion with their doctors. More information about these particular
chinese herbs is explained at http://www.herbsagainstcancer.com
I
understand that the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center of New York
has carried out a clinical trial of astragalus-based herbs (called Jin Fu Kang) for NSCLC.
The trial number is NCT00260026
