Hello,
I am 16 years old, and I have a hard lump on the back of my neck. I have had this lump for about a year or two years now, and my parents and doctors know, yet, they won't take me seriously. I have recently transfered doctors, but I was wondering if I should bring it up, or if I'm just being a hypochondriac? I it hard, an inch or more in diameter, and is right next to my spinal cord and skull. I am a very serious athelete, I practice sometimes for 4 or more hours a day, and when I do, I often get neck "cramps" on that side of my neck, and they go further down to my shoulder sometimes. I don't think that this is normal, but my previous doctor said that it was just a swollen lymph node. I have done some research on this, but everything I have found said that the lymph node should have decreased in size by now.
Also, I found this in another post, it said "Say for example, how was the, acidity, indigestion, belching, gas, bowl movements, 'mucus staying in throat' (you gotta spit it every now and then...), blood from throat, and nose (very small, small, much, too much - also - rarely, winters, summers, occasionally, every now and then...) and sharp/acute headache and earache patterns in the patients of cancer related to head, throat and stomach?" Well, I constantly have URI's (Upper Respiratory Infections), and always have mucas in my throat, even when the URI has been cleared up. Stomach aches, belching, gas, bowl movements are all common to me on a regular basis, although I have never really noticed blood in my throat - every once in a while, but very rare.
Am I just being a hypochondriac, or should I push my parents to let me have this checked out.
