Hi all! Thanks for all the positive responses on this board. This is a much-needed resource and I thank all of you.
Quick question: I was dx ovca clear cell 12/05. 6 rounds of chemo 1/06-5/06. So far, so good. My last check-up 3/07 was good. However in the last month or so I have begun to feel strange sensations in my gut... am I being paranoid?? Will I be able to actually *feel* something if I am having a recurrence?
HI -
I had a recurrence 1 year after finishing chemo (carbo & taxol). I was put on tamoxifen and then started Carbo & Gemzar. Had to go off Carbo after 2 treatments due to allergy. Stayed on the Gemzar. Disease was stable but I found out yesterday that it is progressing. So now I will be trying Hycamtin. When I first relapsed (1 yr out), I felt VERY fatigued. That was my only clue. When the progression started this time, I felt fatigue and some pain in my torso from under breasts down to pelvic area. Also the lymph nodes in my neck started to swell and were painful. These would go up and down. Both times I went right to the doc, even though the first time I was only very tired. Listen to your body!!! Any changes you feel could be significant. My recurrence is in the lymph nodes in my neck, both sides of my diaphram, and "numerous" in the abdomen and pelvis. I had a PET last Thursday and found out results Tuesday. To be honest, I am now frightened. Till now I was not really scared, but this news has kind of laid me low. You have to be your best advocate. Again, LISTEN TO YOUR BODY!! If you feel something different in your gut, go to your doctor right away. Don't worry about bothering him (her), that's what you pay for. God bless and take care.
