This is my first message, I have been reading the information in Cancer Compass, particularly Bile Duct Cancer.
I'm a single mother with three fairly young daughters and after relentless persistance for pain in my abdominal area I finally was diagnosed with a Choli Docco Cyst in my Bile Duct on the Pancreatic side. My Doctors concluded that the Cyst could be removed which required a Re-Sectioning of my Bile Duct (Which means they cut out the bile duct and replaced it with my intestines). After the surgery, I was advised the tumor was cancerous and is a type that can spread; however, the lymph nodes were removed around the area and did not show any cancer.
I keep reading about everyone with Bile Duct Cancer is passing away. Does anyone else know anything about this type of Cancer? The only thing my "Surgeon" has me do is a Liver Function Test once or twice a year. Should I be doing something else? Thanks for any information you might have!
