My 60 years old father is on his 6th day on Tarceva and has already the rash. The doctors say it is a positive sign ! Is it ?
Does anyone know whether it is ok to eat honey as I understand sugar is not the best thing to eat when you have cancer.
Best Wishes to Everyone
Hi Sundy, That's a GREAT sign. The rash usually means the Tarceva is working, especially if he got it this soon. As for the honey, I wouldn't recommend it or anything else that has sugar. The sugar feeds the cancer. I am also 60 and have lung cancer stage 4 (both lungs) and am on Tarceva also. The rash will subside in about 2 weeks. The doctors can give your dad something for the itching if it gets too bad. Also, there are prescriptions for the nausea. I wish you both luck and God Bless. I've been on Tarceva since 02/07, was diagnosed 10 months ago with a prognosis of 6-12 months. Am still working full time. I am so glad I didn't go the standard chemo/radiation route. Keep your faith and spend as much time as you can with your dad. Be optimistic. I'll say a prayer for you both. Nancy
