I need some opinions. When I was diagnosed, my GP ran the first CEA on me. That was end of June '06. At that time, my CEA was 0.5.
I had my next one done on 10/13/2006 at my onc's office and it was 1.0
I had finished radiation by then and was in between treatments at that time. Chemoradiation had finished about a month earlier and I was not on chemo at that time.
Next draw (again at onc's office) was on 2/28/2007. In between chemo treatments and the level was 1.2.
Had surgery (transanal excision) done on 4/20 of this year. Path came back no cancer cells.
Just had my CEA drawn at GP's office last week and it is now at 1.3.
I know that under 3 for a non smoker is normal, but do I worry that it has gone up to 1.3 from 0.5? I have my next CT scan on the 24th of this month and then see the onc and surgeon the following week. BTW, all of my other blood work drawn last week was fantastic. My hemoglobin & hematocrit have hit 15.8 & 43.9-big increases from the last times. Nearing the higher end of normal.
OK, should I be worried about the slight fluctuations in the CEA?
Thanks for the input.
