Hi,

My father was diagnosed with SCC stage IV of the tongue, he went thru chemo and radiation but only to have the tumor return twice as aggressive.  So we were told our only option was to move forward with removal of everything.  When they took the his tongue they said they had to take his larynx and creat a new epiglotis by using his pectorial muscle from his chest.  We were told that he would have trouble eating and talking.  He has been learning to talk by a voice prostesis in his stoma hole in his neck.  I can understand him if I know the topic that he is talking about.  He has been unsuccessful with eating.  He can drink water but that is about it.  Now he has developed a strange feeling on his left side, like his ear is constantly clogged.  Since he has no way of blowing out air, he can't hold his breathe and try to make his ear pop.  He went for a CT scan yesterday to find out what is going on.  Has anyone else gone thru any of the same stuff.  My family is really struggling with this situation.  We are very spiritual but we have to question why this is happening to such a good person.  Please keep my father in your prayers, I prayer for anyone who has been touched by this horrible disease.

Thanks,

Holly
