I am pleased to inform everyone about my first 3 month evaluation.
I have RCC Pappillary strain (type 1) stage 4, and because it is rare there is very little data available as to what I could expect. My choices were between Nexavar & Sutent, because of all the stories I had read about Sutent & the side effects, I chose the nexavar. Partly because my largest tumor (7cm) was in the liver and the Nexavar had some promising results with liver cancer too.
Anyhow, I got the results of my first 3 month ct scan today. A general reduction of 40% in all tumors. The Dr cautioned me that nobody knows how long this will last, or if there will be any further reduction etc. But it sure sounded good so far.
I am taking a full dose of the Nexavar (4 tablets a day). Side effects I have been experiencing are Hand foot syndrome, diarrhea & lots of gas. My wife & I are still trying to get a handle on the diarrhea through meds & diet.
