I just saw this message and felt compelled to add my own story. My husband was diagnosed with pancreas cancer in late May. He was told by two major university hospitals that he was inoperable because the tumor was wrapped around a major vein.
We, too, found Dr. Canady, almost in our backyard, here in Western PA. This amazing surgeon performed major surgery for my husband about a month ago. There were some complications but the tumor was completely removed, all margins were clear, and all lymph nodes were negative. At the time of surgery, he probably had only weeks to live. As far as we can tell at this point, he is cancer free. My husband is still recovering from surgery and will have chemo and radiation as follow up for insurance against a recurrence.
During my two weeks at my husband's side in the hospital, I learned much about how this wonderful man offers hope to those who have been turned away from other surgeons and other facilities. He is usually the last resort. He did not promise anything other than a chance for a cure. We have a hard road ahead, but now we at least have a road.
