Hi!
I cannot answer how the vulvectomy will be as I only had lasering done to remove an area that was VIN 3 back in June. My dotcors told me that more than one surgery may be needed to get all of the pre cancer cells and from doing research I have found that some will need more than one lasering before they get it all. I also had an excision done at the same time that came back as VIN 1 and they told me they had clear margins for the excised area. I find out on OCT 2 whether I need another laser surgery done. A vulvectomy will be ALOT different than just lasering a small area as they are removing the vulva.
One of my doctors did tell me that some women who have large areas affected with VIN do have to have vulvectomy done. Ultimately it is your decision on whether you are doing the right thing. All I can advise is to make an informed decision and if you aren't sure get second, third or fourth opinions. Do what is best for you.
It is very stressful but if you have any doubts seek other opinions. I am here if you need to talk. I have found it helps greatly to be able to talk to other women who have this as we all know and understand what we all are going through.
Keep your chin up and think positive! Keep us posted.
