Hi  everyone,

Just a comment regarding Robotic Prostatectomy. My father had it done last january in upstate new york area. During the surgery the urologist came to us in the waiting room and said the robotic arm had malfunctioned. My fathers bowel had been perforated. He also had a bowel/ bladder fistula as a result of the malfunction. Another team of colorectal surgeons were called in and immediately tried to repair his bowels. To this day my father has had 4 more surgeries to repair his bowel and is still not well. He now has a colostomy and has had a foley catheter in his bladder since the 1st surgery last January. He has urine leaking into his bowel and flows out his rectum. We now have to travel to the cleveland clinic for another surgery to try and repair this.                Please be carefull when deciding on your treatment. Don't think this is a simple ambulatory surgery. Things can go wrong. Ask your doctor how many of these surgeries he has done already. Get a second opinion before deciding which treatment is best.
