I recently went to the ER for chest pains and had a CAT scan looking for a blood clot in my lung. They did not find one but found several nodules near my clavicle. I was told to have another CAT scan in 6 months to see if they grow also. I don't understand why this is a standard practice. It seems that the dr's would be in a hurry to rule out cancer. Why would they want to wait 6 months for it to grow and possibly spread. I posted a recent message in head and neck message board under
confused (9/01/08). I received some great replies. I am now pushing to have this resolved and not wait 6 months. Not sure if you have other problems, you didn't say. I have had a fairly large swollen lymph node in my neck for over a year and recently chest pains. So I am definately going to push the issue and
not wait 6 months. Whatever you choose to do make sure you are comfortable with it. My gut feeling was not to wait, but it is hard to "tell" your doctor what you want. I have always thought that dr's know best and I would look ridiculous trying to tell my dr anything, but after reading the replies to my post I have changed my mind. Hope this helps some. Good luck to you.
