They started me on sandostatin shots once a month to control the ibm and stomach pain. Also was on chemo pills for about 2 months. They were trying to do the sis sphere where they would go in like a catherazation to target the tumor itself with radioactive tiny beads to shrink or make the tumor go away. But my insurance denied b/c it was still considered in theexperimental stage. This is BCBSNC. Now my oncologist is trying to get me approved yet for another procedure call chemobolazation. Which is typical the same procedure except with chemo going directly to the tumor. The insurance is wanting more sytamatic systems. I think when you don't have control of your bm, that's a problem. I just want to know my best options. They talk like a transplate is not in the question since the cancer mastastazied to my liver from my intestines. My oncologist talks like I am not going to a fire yet not to get excited b/c this type of cancer is slow growing. But it doesn't make it any better. I was a real active person b4 all of this run marathon, road races, ran 5 times a week. This all seen so sureal. Had a complete hestorectomy that didn't show any signs of cancer in any of my female organs. I just wish they could have done a better job of detecting where the tumors were instead of cutting me from the bottom to the top curving around my navel. I felt like a guinea pig.
Let me know if I was helpful.
