I was so sorry to here about your sister-in law. My dad was diagnosis in Feb of 07. He had surgery to remove the tumor and was told he was in remission. Well in October he was told that the cancer has returned(Small spots). He was placed on Nexavar and seemed to be doing well. He had radiation on Jan 17,2008 (SIRT90). The radiologist told us everything looks great and the spots should shrink even more. Well last week he began suffering form stomach pains. we called the oncologist all week and NO ONE CALLED US BACK!!!!! well we rushed him to the hospital on Saturday(Mount SINAI). After 12 hours in the ER they admitted him and told us they were going to drain the liver because his bile duct is blocked from a tumor. On Monday we were told that they were not going to drain the liver and he was given "the speech" about enjoying the remainder of his days. They were going to try to keep him comfortable. What is so upsetting is the oncologist still hasn't called us back and sent one of his assoicates to speak to him. WHAT HAPPENED TO COMPASSION!!!!! my heart is aching because my Dad is my best friend and a wonderful father. grandfather, and husband. I will never be able to forget his face when they told him there was nothing they can do. Why did they have him do the radiation two weeks age and give us false hope. Has anyone experienced the jaundice. He is not in pain and actually is functioning. He is heart broken. Thank you for listening.
