I just found this site. My 73 y/o mother-in-law was dx'd with primary peritoneal cancer 11/2005 and has been through, it seems, every complication there is including c-dificile, peritoneal abscess after intra-peritoneal chemo which nearly killed her, intestinal blockage which resulted in an ileostomy and one of the worst complications has been a terrible bout with some kind of arthritic syndrome causing extremely painful and swollen joint which incapacitated her last year. That was her first bout with it which lasted at least 8 months. She was treated with IV steroids, followed by oral steroids (which have their own awful side effects) as well as numerous attempts to ease her pain with pain meds. Her chemo has been fairly effective since her Ct scans seems to be stable for the most part and her CA-125 has never gone over about 430 (now at 406). It's so incredibly frustrating that her arthritic syndrome has recently returned just when we were going to be able to take a break from the chemo for once. Her rheumatologist has decided to try something called sulfasalazine but that takes 2-3 wks and her symptoms are rapidly getting worse zapping any quality of life. Has anyone of this syndrome or how to treat it with success?
