It pays to be a hypochondriac - I hope you go get that bump checked out.  It may be nothing but if it is something, it's better to be safe than sorry.

I too am a "hypochondriac" and I had a little tiny sore on my tongue that didn't go away, so I immediately went to the dentist and then an oral surgeon for a biopsy - and it was cancer!  I didn't even use tobacco but did drink a fair amount of wine - so after I had more of it taken off to make sure they got it all, I also quit drinking.  It's been nearly 3 years and (knock wood) all is well.  But if I had ignored it and not gone to get it taken off, the story could have a less happy ending.  So, GO TO THE DENTIST.  Ask him if he can check the bump or if not, ask for a referral to an oral surgeon for a biopsy.  And quit using tobacco, it is the  biggest risk factor for oral cancer.  Best of luck to you!
