get as educated as you can, the internet is a great resource. have your family and friends help and support both you and your wife. get 2nd and 3rd opinions. try anything. i have gone back to the 1st pages on this site for stomach cancer and have found alot of info.
my father was diagnosed in july. he had 40% of his stomach removed and lymph nodes too. but the cancer is too advanced. his liver is full of tumors. he was given 4-6 months and if chemo worked 9 months. he is doing treatment at UW in madison, wi. he went to U of Chicago & Mayo to get other opinions. they were the same.
my dad is now on a break from chemo again. the one he was doing was too harsh for him (he was on oxaliplatin drip 1ce every 3 wks and then xeloda pills for 2wks from day of drip). so next monday we try another. but my dad is eating healthier than he ever has. and we juice veggies (especially greens) and fruit. we have not at this point tried alternative options, but we have interest.
please be sure to lean on friends and family. this is a tough journey and you'll need the support. my thoughts are with you. kris
