Thanks Kevin. I actually don't mind anyone adding their 2 cents worth or a quarters worth=) Kevin, are you trying anything other than the norm for treatment? Gibby

Good Evening Gibby;

If by the "norm" you mean the cookie-cutter treatment these Drs. prescribe in their "factories" the answer is YES.

I have taken an active role in my treatment plan and question anyone or anything that sparks my interest. Not belligerently, mind you, but don't expect me to accept an opinion that is going to affect my life with the supposition that "that's just the way we do it."

I read everything I can concerning this desease. And I firmly believe that only by educating ourselves are we going to force these Drs. to challange themselves to stumble upon a cure. And yes, I do mean stumble upon. Just look at Revlimid. Presently a Godsend, from a pill that caused so much heartache in the '60's.

Another thing I strongly believe in is that pills/medicine aren't the cure all we are meant to believe. We must supplement the meds with changes in our diet, eating habits and lifestyles! But, don't waste your breath attempting to question the Drs.(They only understand meds.) Speak with a dietician or nutritionist. Photog is a valuable resource for natural products.Personally, I haven't had to make major changes in my diet. I ate pretty healthy before I was Dx. However, I had created an acidic environment within my body and somehow "invited" this cancer in. Stay away from coffee, drink green tea instead. Just as cancer thrives in an acidic environment, it loves sugar! If you must sweeten your foods, I have found NuStevia to be the best. (Available at our local Wegmans) I eat either blackberries, raspberries and blueberries daily. Careful with the blues as they are acidic. I test my urine daily and keep the level in the green. Strive for 7.35. but keep it above 7.0. Increase your consumption of onions and garlic. Also eat more dark green leaf vegetables. Yellow is also a good color to eat. Sea salt is better than regular salt. Avoid any products made from a pig. No mushrooms! They are a fungus. (I read an article by a Dr.who believes that cancer is a fungus. Any medical people wish to comment?)  Eat more fish. Did you know that the Chinese and Japanese people smoke more cigs than we Americans but their cancer rate is lower? Drs. figure that the difference is because they consume so much more fish than us. Avoid alcohol, although it is said that a glass of red wine daily is good for you. Increase your fluid intake, especially water. You must keep the kidneys healthy and flushed, this will pay dividends later on. I asked my Dr. about "later on" he told me that I'll die from renal failure. The kidneys just can't keep up with all the protein produced. Keep them strong now.

I exercise daily. I'm not talking about marathons or swimming the Channel. But the muscles are going to help protect the bones from breakage. Keep them in tone. Even if it's only stretching.

Above all, keep a positive attitude! Watch the video "The Secret." This may sound far-fetched but I believe the body hears what the mind is thinking. I avoid those "pity-me-I'm-going-to-die" people. Gram always said "misery loves company."

Find comfort in your faith. Whatever your belief in a supreme entity may be.

I know I've started to ramble Gibby, but you asked for the quarter tour and you got it. I have no magic elixir to offer you. Only the wish that you lower your numbers by changes in diet, lifestyle and mindset. We will find a cure for this desease! We must!

Take care;

Kevin
