I just read the chemosensitivity testing message and am surprised no one who is posting messages has posted anything regarding the danger of the blood brain barrier being permeated by Taxol, Carboplatin or any of the other platinum drugs.
I had a hysterectomy in February where a stage 1C tumor was found and removed. Because it was partly attached to the peritoneal cavity my oncologist wants to give me Taxol & Carboplatin as an adjuvant therapy. Now that I know what they can do, I'm against it and have sent him a letter to that effect. The Topetecan seems like it might be a better bet than Doxil (because of the hand and foot itching) or the Taxol- Carboplatin. Does anyone have recent experience with short or long term side-effects from Topetecan?
