Dad With Prostate Cancer

8 years ago my father was diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer.  His PSA had always been 0, then at one yearly check it jumped to 12.  Anyway, long story short, he had a radical prostectomy.  My father was given 6 months to live.

Now 8 years later my father is still going.  His PSA has gone up past 1100.  Yes, up past 1000.  Now it's down below 200 and he's thrilled.  His last bone scan showed a few hot spots but bigger than the head of a pin.

I guess I posted the note to let you know, sometimes doctors just don't know how things will go.  If you ask my Dad's oncologist, he will say that it's a miracle that Dad is doing as well as he is.  If you ask my Father... he will tell you it's all because of God and his weekly Rosary prayer meetings.

Dad has chemo 1 time a week, takes gleevic and a bunch of other meds.  He has just started not being able to keep some foods down.. because of a sensitive stomach.  I fear that this chemo is going to be the end of him, and not the cancer.

 Keep the faith.
