Home Or Hospital End Of Life

My father-in-law passed two years ago. We had hospice come to the house. His girlfriend and his daughter (who's an RN) did most of his care. The hospice nurse came in everyday to check his vitals, bathe him, and talk with the family. A nurse was available by beeper 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The hospice nurses were wonderful, told us what to expect, taught us how to give the pain meds and hugged us often. It was still very hard. Our local hospital just made a hospice "home". Which I guess is very home-like setting instead of hospital like. It is an alternative to the sterile small environment of a hospital. It really depends on what your comfortable with. You can call the local hospice and ask them questions.

Let me know if I can help you with any other questions. God Bless
