my mother was dx with stomach cancer stage 3b on 1-13-07 had surgery, 3/4 of her stomach was removed, had only 5 chemos and 28 radiation.  she could not have the other 3 chemos because her liver was upset due to radition so they said we can not take a risk and give more chemo because it might damage the liver more.  everything was fine until july 3rd 07 when ct scan came back normal but it did show a little bit of fluids around the liver and the ca19-9 at the time was 60. the dr. said its not enough fluids to concern the radioligist and since mom is feeling great wait another 3 months.  october 11th 07 pet/ct normal this time the fluids were a bit more, but still not a conern (ca19-9 at 240) .  took her to 2nd opinion, this dr. also said she's doing great lets wait and see.  Blood test done on 12-27-07 that should the ca19-9 being in the thousands,  (I did not want to know the numbers) ct done on 1-10-08 came back normal for organs but it should lots of fluids in the abdamin.  they drain 1/2 litter and the results were given to me over the phone that it contained cancer cells.  her dr. told me she can give her chemo hopefully it can go away but the prognosis of malignant ascites is not good.  im scared to death my moms only 73 years young.  she has so much will to live.  she was telling me last night, dont worry ill always be next to you eighter here or in heaven..    Im planning to go to two other opinions between now and this week before we go back to her dr. to get the plans going.  can some one please who has any idea let me know if im losing my mom soon.   Please is there any hope for her to be in remission now that she's been staged at 4 because of this.  Please help me im dying of fear.
