My 67 y.o. mother was diagnosed with stage 4b cervical cancer last July 2007, had partial hysterectomy, but the cancer was widespread, e.g. on spleen, in some lymphnodes, in stomach area. Not pretty. Well, she had one 6 cycle round, cisplatin and topotecan, well tolerated, and which shrunk all her tumors. Several months later, tumors found growing on spleen, lower cervix, 7cm and 9 cm, and smaller tumors here and there. Now, however, in 2nd round, chemo this time seems ineffective. tumors growing. The oncologist has hinted at some more surgery, but has not mentioned any other treatments such as radiation.
We have a key meeting in a few weeks to discuss status and options with the oncologist. I would greatly appreciate any ideas we can relay and questions to pose to the doctor. Any other input, insights very much welcome. Tom P.
