My sister in law was diagnosed yesterday. There is not much information on the internet and little or no info on nutrition or alternative or complimentary therapies. She was so shocked at the word cancer, she is not quite sure all that her doctor told her. She did understand that she will have a short round of chemo and then surgery and that it looks contained to one area of her shoulder.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
I joined this board back in mid 2007 when my husband was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer and everyone has helped so very much. Just as he is entering remission, his sister is hit with this news. Please help if you can. We are just starting to research this particular cancer and there just doesn't seem to be as much information as other cancers.

My 33 year old son-in-law was diagnosed with Chondrosarcoma in Jan 2007 and had surgury which replaced his knee and part of his femur. Chemotherapy and radiaton was not recommended so no further treatment was done. A tumur was recently found in his lungs and his doctor from MDAnderson in Houston felt there was nothing further that they could do for him.
At this point he is looking into several more progressive/alternative treatments- Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Philadelphia, Dr Burzensky Clinic in Houston, and Dr. Truitt (a Rice University graduate) from Life Force Research Hospital operating in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. These are places that have been recommended by family and friends. Please note that the recommendations were from people who had success at these clinics but not from Chondrosarcoma.

If your grand-nephew hasn't done any research into alternative cancer treatments, he'll find there's a HUGE body of information on the internet. I suggest he begin with the first web site above, that of Dr. Ralph Moss, a PhD rather than an MD, whose mission in life is to follow and evaluate both conventional and alternative cancer treatments. You can order reports from him on specific types of cancer (he has one on chronosarcoma, I checked), and arrange personal consultations with him after purchase of such a report. Very well balanced, very thorough scientific evaluations from this source, and he also has a newsletter.
The second website is Bill Henderson's. Bill is the author of the book Cure Your Cancer, Your Guide to the Internet. I bought the hard copy, but it's also available in a downloadable format. He also sends out an e-mail newsletter with regular updates at no charge. Bill is an older man whose first wife died of cancer. His goal in life now is to help others dealing with cancer to avoid the trauma his wife suffered, and to help them get better or well using alternative treatments.

I feel so strongly about this book that I have given copies to all my health care providers. It is about the political suppression of effective cancer cures in this country for the benefit of the pharmaceutical companies. This is fascinating, horrific reading about greedy people, corporations, and bureaucrats, and certainly important to read if anyone needs convincing that the people ultimately in charge (not the ones they're working with directly--often they're dedicated, caring folks who don't know the score either) do not have ones best interests in mind. The energizing thing about this book is that it will open your eyes and make you more optimistic that there are cures out there that conventional medicine doesn't know about/disregards.
Like you we could not find much helpful information on the internet when we first heard the diagnosis. We are continuing to look for help.
