Hi Gary,

Are you sure the January reading was 1.0 rather than 0.1? If so, then your PSA doubling time is less than a month -- extremely dangerous:
   07/2007 ... 0.01 (perhaps misread from "<0.01")
 (08/2007 ... 0.0069)

 (09/2007 ... 0.0185)

  10/2007 ... 0.05
 (11/2007 ... 0.136)
 (12/2007 ... 0.367)
01/2008 ... 1.0 (calculated as an increase of 2.7 per month)

? 02/2008 ... 2.7 (projected, assuming an increase of 2.7 per month)

? 03/2008 ... 7.3 (projected, assuming an increase of 2.7 per month)

? 04/2008 ... 20 (projected, assuming an increase of 2.7 per month)

? 05/2008 ... 53 (projected, assuming an increase of 2.7 per month)

Such an aggressive doubling rate is extremely rare, and so I suspect that some kind of miscommunication has taken place. But even if your January value was 0.1 rather than 1.0, it represents a three-month doubling time -- still quite worrisome.

If it were me, I wouldn't wait another three months; I'd schedule a consultation with another medical oncologist as soon as possible.
