I am sorry to hear that you have to take this journey. Age and good health are on your side. My Mom was diagnosed in June 2007 (unfortunately it took one year) with small cell bladder cancer. Mom is 77. All doctors consulted said small cell of the bladder is very rare (unless you were/are a smoker) and it usually comes from somewhere else prior to being in bladder. Previous PET scan never revealed it anywhere else. Mom did chemo (carboplatnum and vp16) which helped until it landed her in the hospital due to pulmonary challenges she has had for last five years. As of late, she did about 12 weeks of radiation which helped and cystoscopy showed, no further growth in bladder. Latest PET this month revealed cancer traveling to two different areas of spine and to liver as well. Mom is taking AHCC, a mushroom extract supplement and we believe it is helping. There is hope that it may shrink any tumor and possibly promote tumor cell death. I have also heard good things from Dr. Weil and others about Host Defense supplement by New Chapter for cancer patients and cancer survivors. By gaining proper knowledge, getting treatment you decide upon and having as best an attitude as you can, you can fight and beat this. Just thought I would share my personal experience as I have had experience with bladder cancer and colon cancer diagnoses. My sister at age 45 battled colon cancer (no prior history in family). I wish you well.
