Just giving everyone an update on my mother. She had 1/3 of her liver removed (no resection). Was on Xeloda and radiation. The Xeloda continued until Dec 21 05. She had a CT scan done and the margin where they operated is still show some cancer in bile duct and now she has 2 spots on liver. They are now continuing the Xeloda on Jan 21 05 with one week on and one week off. She is opting not to have a liver transplant or have the radiation tube directed at the tumors. Too painful. I have given her videos from Lorraine Day about a raw food diet. Not interested. I am dissapointed that she is not open to anything other than what her doctor says. I am not saying that she should stop chemo or anything like that. She also is not interested in learning anything more about the cancer. I have been doing research thanks to all you good people who have helped!! I am going to ask her to talk to her doctor about Leucovorin, Gezmar and Oxaliplatin in addition to her Xeloda. How do you help someone who you love who has already given up hope. All she says is that it is in Gods hands. I agree but she should also try to help herself. It seems she won't even listen unless you have the white coat on!
Anyone have suggestions on how to deal with the negativity? I try to keep upbeat and positive. It's hard though when she seems to be throwing in the towel.
Desperate
